Snap and LinkedIn Both Just Shipped Defenses Against AI Content Floods

Snap made wholly AI-generated videos ineligible for recommendation. LinkedIn added a report button and killed its own AI-writing feature. Both moved the same week.

Snap and LinkedIn both just built new tools to push back against AI-generated content.

Snap and LinkedIn each shipped concrete platform changes in the same week, July 30 and 31, 2026, aimed at pushing back on the flood of AI-generated content on their platforms.

What Snap changed

Wholly AI-generated videos are no longer eligible for recommendation on Snap's Spotlight feed. This is an eligibility filter, not a ban: the content can still be posted, it just won't get pushed to other users. Videos made with Snap's own in-app AI tools, like Imagine Lens or Animate It, stay eligible for recommendation and carry a transparency indicator.

What LinkedIn changed

LinkedIn added a 'seems like AI slop' option to every post's report menu, which removes the post from that specific user's feed and feeds a recommendation classifier. It also discontinued its own 'enhance your post' AI-writing feature, replacing it with a tool that only proofreads instead of rewriting a person's voice, and now blocks hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts every day. LinkedIn's chief product officer, Hari Srinivasan, in a post on the platform: 'AI slop is a top priority for all of us.'

Why a build studio cares

Both companies are drawing the same line in different ways: AI-assisted content stays fine, wholly AI-generated content that tries to pass as organic gets throttled. That's a real, working content moderation pattern, not just a policy statement, and it's a reasonable template for any platform we build that has to deal with the same problem.
